Wonderful Day
Amis elders often say: In life, there’s happiness and sadness, just like the sweetness and bitterness of traditional Amis herbs can’t be separated out from one another.
Looking at things from a more positive frame of mind, we can live in the moment, realize that every emotion we feel today is a flavor of the day. Saying the phrase "fancalay a rumiad" (beautiful day) after eating dinner, in awe at the day, is a way to show thanks for the plan laid out by the heavens, and how full life is of different flavors, feeding the body and nurturing the soul.
